Food, Valentines day and fundraising

Another packed one hour show on Nightline to discuss deals, promotions and events around the UAE. This week’s show focused on Valentine’s day giving people the chance to focus and plan ahead.What we covered included:  Gourmet Abu Dhabi: Presented by Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, Gourmet Abu Dhabi continues to endeavour the third edition in 2011 and establish Abu Dhabi as a culinary and lifestyle destination. Dar El Kamar: A new restaurant in JBR Walk (at the far end) offers home cooked Egyptian food at affordable prices. The rich menu offers a lot including a very nice great Foul and Felafel sandwiches (not on the menu), shisha and free wi-fi. Directions and menu are on the me360 app (if you have an iPhone)

Belgian Beer café: Intercon Dubai Festival City is offering those that are solo on Valentine’s night and want no couples in sight, or want to hear ‘love machine’ by Barry White, a safe haven! The first 40 singles to come to Belgian Beer café will get a free pint and a cone of Belgian fries. There is also its Special ‘Black Mussel’ menu for the evening.

Sumo Sushi & Bento: This Valentines Day, if you fancy a bit of sushi or a bento, then if you wear red and spend 20 dhs – you get free gourmet chocolates with your order.

Charity Swish: Claire from Heels and Deals spoke to Nightline of their Charity Swish being held in support of Dubai Center for Special Needs on February 8th from 6.15pm onwards at the Bonnington Hotel. Open for ladies only, all they have to do is All you need to do is bring along a minimum of 3 very good quality items of clothing, shoes, bags or fashion accessories to swap! Fujairah Flea Market & Car Boot sale: In aid of Mission Himalaya, this fundraiser for Trekking for Nepal is a garage style sale asking for people to either book a call/park their car for Dhs 90 and sell their own stuff or donate second hand stuff to be sold to raise funds to build a new orphanage and eco-farm in Nepal. Winter Family Fair: An Emaar property event, the second session is being held at Emirates Living (Meadows Village Car Park) on February 4 & 5. It promises to be a fun-filled couple of days at the event that's part of the Dubai Shopping Festival 2011 activities and presented by leading beauty brand VLCC.

Swiss Nouveau Cirque: On Sat 5 February, Consulate General of Switzerland & Swiss Art Gate UAE present Swiss Nouveau Cirque/ Beautiful Turns as part of its Swiss Days Dubai 2011. Performed by RIGOLO in DUCTAC, Beautiful Turns is a fascinating alternative dimension of oscillation and rotation, combined to produce a spectacular, magical, poetical, breathtaking, magnificent show! Prior to the Rigolo-performed stage show, in the entrance area of DUCTAC Jonas Althaus will be performing Balls & Tones, a contemporary juggling act with dance and electronic live music. In addition we reminded everyone of the free open auditions for the Sound of Music in Dubai this weekend at Held at Hayya Health Club in the Meadows, Next to Spinneys and EIS School in Meadows village. 4 Feb: Girls aged 6-12 9am, Girls Aged 13-17 at 3pm, Boys aged 10-18 at 6pm Sharp; 5 Feb: Adults 18+ at 9am.
